Abstract

970,387. Clutch control. K. HAUSSERMANN, H. HAUSSERMANN, and L. HAUSSERMANN, [trading as LAMELLENUND KUPPLUNGSBAU AUGUST HAUSSERMANN]. Oct. 7, 1960 [Oct. 9, 1959], No. 34529/60. Heading F2L. A clutch is disengaged by an engine suction servomotor 4 having a chamber 5 connected to a pipe 28 leading to the engine inlet manifold under the control of a solenoid-operated valve 11 which opens when the gear-shift-lever is operated to declutch. At the end of its declutching stroke the servo-piston engages a valve rod 14 thereby unseating a valve 16 to admit atmospheric air to the chamber 5 through a filter 17a and passages 17, 17<SP>1</SP>, 8, valve 11 having seated to close the suction line 28 on release of the shift lever. Initial movement of the servo-piston is rapid until its position allows the valve rod 14 to return to its initial position and the valve 16 to seat, cutting off the supply of air to the chamber 5 through the passage 17. Thereafter engagement is slow, air passing to the chamber 5 through a filter 54a, a passage 54, a throttle valve 47 and passages 45b, 45, 45<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP>, 8. The throttle valve 47 is linked to the carburetter throttle valve 46 so that the rate of engagement is dependent on the position of the engine throttle.
