970,213. Pistons. BRITISH PISTON RING CO. Ltd. July 9, 1963 [July 13, 1962], No. 26967/62. Heading F2T. A light metal trunk piston 10 has an arcuate transverse slot 13 adjacent the upper part of the skirt 11 on the non-thrust side and an iron or other expansion controlling ring 12 embedded in the skirt with its plane inclined about an axis extending parallel to the gudgeon pin axis so that the lowermost part of the ring is below the slot 13 and the uppermost part is between the lowermost piston ring groove 14 and a plane which is normal to the piston axis and contains the gudgeon pin axis.
