Abstract

969,491. Cushion-soled foot covering. SCHOLL MFG. CO. Ltd. Dec. 2, 1960 [Jan. 20, 1960], No. 41628/60. Heading A3B. A cushion sole 7 is bonded by a thermoplastic cementitious substance 10 to a fabric slipper. The slipper is seamless and consists of both an upper 2 and a sole portion 3. A smooth covering 9 such as a plastic film, smooth surfaced fabric or thin piece of leather may be adhesively attached or cured to the face of the cushion sole away from the fabric slipper. This sole may be of sponge rubber foam latex &c. or felt and may be used either as an outsole or as an insole with the slipper turned inside out. In manufacture a preformed cushion sole has a film of thermoplastic cementitious substance with melting point preferably below 212‹F on one surface. The sole is heated and a preformed fabric slipper is pressed firmly against the softened film and allowed to set again thereby bonding the cushion sole to the sole portion of the slipper.
