Abstract

Method for assembling articles of footwear with a leather upper and a plastic sole is carried out by direct injection of the sole. A strip of plastic material, which is pref. selected for its properties of perfect adhesion to the plastic material of the sole, is stitched to the underside of the edge of the upper. Then the plastic material of the sole is injected so that the strip is embedded within the resulting sole. Pref. the strip and the sole are made of PVC or another thermoplastic material. The strip is pref. in the shape of a T or an inverted U. A mounting insole of textile material or soft leather may first be stitched to the edge of the upper, and the whole shoe made without using a last, to allow easier, more rapid, cheaper mfr.
