Abstract

1357963 Boots &c H A ANDERSSON 7 July 1971 [10 July 1970] 31999/71 Heading A3B [Also in Division B5] Articles of footwear, e.g. clogs, sandals and slippers are made by placing a lasted upper 4 having a downwardly inwardly direct flange 4b and an upper mould part 1 onto a lower mould part 3 and injecting polyurethane foamable material into the cavity so formed to mould a sole, an insole, a shank piece and a heel as an integral piece 10 to which the upper is secured by the flange 4b becoming embedded in the moulded piece 10. A clog is made by replacing a leather or plastics upper 4 having an edge bead 4a (Fig. 3); sole and heel treads 8, and longitudinal or transverse reinforcing strands 11 in the mould before injection. The moulding steps may be carried out at stations around a revolving table (Fig. 4, not shown).
