Abstract
1536901 Footwear GIFFARD NEWTON & SONS Ltd 7 Jan 1977 [10 Jan 1976] 00949/76 Heading A3B A mid-sole 6 is moulded, e.g. injection moulded, to a lasted upper/insole assembly 2, 4 and an outsole 8 then adhered to the cured mid-sole. The mid-sole 6 may be of PVC or a blown mixture of PVC and PU and may have an exposed margin 10 giving the appearance of a welt or rand. The outsole 8 may be of natural or synthetic rubber or PVC and the adhesive preferably is heat-activated. The insole 4 is of leather-board and adhered to the upper 2. The mid-sole 6 and the outsole 8 are roughened and coated with solvent before adhesion of the outsole 8 under pressure. The edges of the mid-sole 6 and outsole 8 are trimmed after manufacture.
