1473358 Boots &c M MILOTIC 30 July 1974 [8 March 1974] 33533/74 Addition to 1446769 Heading A3B A shoe comprising a bottom 1, an inner shoe assembly 2 and an outer cover 3 is similar to that disclosed in Specification 1446769 except that the tongues 14 may point in the opposite directions to those previously disclosed in order to minimise gaping between the upper and the bottom 1, and the tongues may now be integral with the bottom 1 rather than with the insole 7 of the assembly 2, corresponding slots 15 now being provided in the insole itself or in a flexible lining 19, sewn at its periphery to the insole 7, rather than in the bottom 1. Thus the tongue 14 at the toe end (Fig. 3) may be directed rearwardly whilst the waist and heel tongues project forwardly. Each tongue 14 preferably has a transverse strip 20 which is of similar thickness to the lining 19 and, after assembly, abuts against the edges of its corresponding slot 15 to provide positive longitudinal and lateral locking of the assembly 2 with respect to the bottom 1. The tongues 14, strips 20 and lining 19 may be made of flexible material such as glass fibre reinforced synthetic material, the strips 20 projecting onto the tongues 14, as at the toe and heel of Fig. 3, to provide an elastic locking. Using sufficiently stiff tongues, a relatively rigid locking is provided when the tongue is projected onto its associated strip, as at the waist of Fig. 3. As previously, the shoe is assembled by bending the assembly 2 with respect to the bottom 1.
