Abstract
969,493. Oversocks; slippers. SCHOLL MFG. CO. Ltd. Dec. 22, 1960 [Jan. 21, 1960], No. 44153/60. Heading A3B. A sole part of cushioning material e.g. foam, latex, sponge, rubber, &c., is bonded directly without adhesive on to one face of a one-piece slipper of stretchable fabric. The cushion 7 can be worn inside as an insole Fig. 3 or outside by turning the inner face of the sole portion 3 of the slipper shown in Fig. 3 is exposed and the slipper is fitted over the lower mould member 9, 10. The cushioning material is moulded directly on to the sole portion 3 and allowed to partially permeate through the fabric thereof. A smooth covering 8 e.g. leather, plastic or tightly woven fabric can be secured over the sole part 7 as in Fig. 3. Arch supporting elevations can be moulded with the insole 25 by use of an upper mould member 17 which contains depressions, Fig. 9. When the slipper is to be used mainly as a bedroom slipper, a tread is provided on the undersurface of the sole, portion 3 of the fabric slipper as in Fig. 13 by supporting the sole portion at spaced locations and allowing the cushioning material to pass entirely through the unsupported areas. The face of the lower mould 10 is provided with deformations of any desired pattern to achieve this.
