Abstract

1,010,519. Boots &c. H. FUNCK. March 23, 1964 [March 27, 1963], No. 12122/64. Heading A3B. A waterproof boot of a thermoplastic elastomer has a ventilating sole structure comprising a tread layer I, a layer 4 of porous sponge rubber in the ball region and air pumping chambers formed by ribs 5 in the waist and heel region, a perforated mid-sole 1alpha and a perforated inner sole 7 which has spacers 9 on its under surface to form a layer of air IV between the midsole 1alpha and the inner sole 7. The mid-sole 1alpha is formed integral with the upper 1 and the wearing sole is welded to the upper at the edges 6 only, the ribs 5 not being welded to the mid-sole. The inner sole 7 may be made of a harder material than the mid-sole and tread sole.
