This invention relates to new and useful improvements in an inner shoe protector,
This is a substitute for my previous application filed on May 17, 1944, Serial No. 535,916, now abandoned.
More specifically, the invention proposes the construction of an inner shoe protector characterized by a reinforced Waterproof material. This reinforced foot protector is adapted to be worn upon the foot and be inserted into ones shoes in a manner to protect the wearers feet against the moisture of inclement weather.
In one form of the invention it is proposed to characterize the construction of the inner shoe protector by a reinforced cloth material with a layer of rubber vulcanized directly to the outside face thereof in a manner to waterproof the reinforced foot protector.
Still another object of the invention proposes characterizing a shoe protector formed of separate layers of cloth material, and waterproof material adhesively connected together.
It is a further object of this invention to provide reinforcement pieces between the adhesively secured layers in a manner to permit the position of the reinforcement pieces to be shifted in a separated condition of the layers of the foot protector to reinforce portions thereof when desired.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claim in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of an inner shoe protector constructed in accordance with this invention.

Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of a modified shoe protector constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged partial vertical sectional view taken on the line 44 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a view similar to Fig. 3 but illustrating a still further modification of the invention.
Fig. 6 is an enlarged partial vertical sectional view taken on the line 66 of Fig. 5.
Fig. '7 is an enlarged partial vertical sectional view taken on the line 1-1 of Fig. 5.
The inner shoe protector, according to this invention, includes a reinforced foot protector l0 made of waterproof material. The material from which the foot protector II] is made, as shown in Fig. 2, includes a cloth inner base II which has a layer of rubber material l2 vulcanized directly upon the outside face thereof.
The reinforced foot protector is adapted to be engaged upon ones foot and thereafter the foot and the protector are inserted into ones shoes in a manner to protect the feet against moisture during inclement weather.
In the modification of the invention, shown in Figs. 3 and 4, reinforced foot protector I0 is characterized by a layer of cloth material [3 and a separate outside layer of rubber l4. These layers l3 and M are securely attached together by the application of a layer of adhesive material I5 between the adjacent faces thereof.
In the modification of the invention, shown in Figs. 5 to 7 the shoe protector i0 is characterized by an inner layer of cloth material l6 and an outer layer of cloth material H. The adjacent faces of the cloth layer [6 and I1 are secured together by tacky material l8. The tacky material I8 of the waterproof pressure type which tends to secure itself when pressed together but which will permit the layers I6 and I! to be separated when desired.
Reinforcement pieces l9 are provided within the heel and toe of the foot protector Ill". The reinforcement pieces l9 are normally disposed between the layers I6 and I1 and are provided on each of their faces with tacky material 20, similar to the tacky material I 8, and which is adapted to be engaged by the tacky material I8 for securely holding these reinforcement pieces 19 fixedly in position.
Normally, the reinforcement pieces l9 will be disposed within the heel and toe of the inner shoe protector. but when it is desired to shift their location to reinforce portions of the inner shoe or to prevent leaks at specific areas, the layers l6 and I! may be pulled apart, freeing the reinforcement pieces [9 to be shifted. When the reinforcement pieces l9 reach their desired location, the layers I 6 and I! may then be pressed together to reengage the tacky material l8 and 20 and secure the reinforcement pieces in their adjusted positions.
In other respects this form of the invention is similar to that previously shown and like reference numerals identify like parts in each of the several views.
It is to be understood that my foot protector may be made of any suitable water repellent material with or without trimming,
inner stocking, an outer stocking, a tacky layer on the inner face of said outer stocking, a reinforcement between said layers, and a tacky layer on either side of said reinforcement whereby it is secured in position between said layers and may be shifted to any desired position, said tacky layers securing said stockings together and said reinforcement to said stockings.
