Abstract

969,258. Crates. DAIRY SUPPLY CO. Ltd. April 22, 1963 [Feb. 7, 1962], No. 4785/62. Heading B8P. A crate, particularly intended for holding articles whose sides diverge from base to top, comprises a frame 6 supporting cross-members 7 of substantially constant thickness, each of which have double bends 8 producing portions 9 parallel to one another and horizontally displaced by an amount greater than the thickness of each cross-member. The frame 6 and crossmembers 7 are provided with a synthetic plastic coating sprayed thereon and the frame 6 is supported by struts 3 at points about two-thirds the height of the struts. Further cross-members 5 having depending ends fixed to a base frame 2 form a raised framework 4 to support the articles, the points of intersection of the members 5 lying below and substantially centralling of the article-receiving spaces formed by members 7. Shoulders 12 on struts 3 at two opposite ends of the crate and the raised framework 4 facilitate stacking of the crates.
