Abstract

863,894. Storage racks. AMERICAN METAL PRODUCTS CO. Sept. 1, 1959 [Sept. 8, 1958], No. 29752/59. Class 52(1). A collapsible storage rack comprises corner posts 15 held together by spreader bars 17 and sway bars 18, 19 and stringers 16 attached to the posts by locking plates 36, the spreader and sway bars engaging holes 27 in the posts as do the fingers 37 of the locking plates. The stringer has U-shaped supporting plates with fingers 34, 35 which engage the fingers of the locking plate and a shaped portion 33 which mates with surface 25 of the posts. The stringers are L-shaped so that they can support a removable shelf, the holes 27 being spaced at regular intervals on the posts so that the stringers may be held at various heights. In a modification U-shaped supporting plates are used on the stringers, having fingers on the outer flange which engage the holes 27 so that there is no need for a locking plate.
