Abstract
644,734. Bottle crates. CO-OPERATIVE WHOLESALE SOCIETY, Ltd., and HINDLEY, H. July 30, 1948, No. 20303. [Class 18] A metal bottle crate comprises a frame of angle pieces provided with stacking lugs 10 at the top corners, and T-section members 6, the flanges of which are suitably recessed to accommodate the bottles, extend across the crate and are slotted at their ends to enable the flange to be secured to L-section members 5 at the edge of the crate. The members 6 divide the crate in rows and rods 7 extend at right angles to the members 6 through their webs to further divide the rows into individual compartments for the bottles. The bottom of the crate is formed by inverted T-section members 4 extending across the crate and rods 8 extend at right angles thereto through the webs of the member 4 to support the bottom of the bottles. Other rods 9 extend through the webs of the base members 4 at a higher level to keep the base of the bottles apart. The top of the crate may be formed of channel section members, the lower flange of which is curved to facilitate handling.
