Abstract

769,695. Crates for carboys. CARRIER STEPHENS CO. Jan. 19, 1954 [Jan. 19, 1953], No. 1626/54. Class 18. A carboy crate comprises a top frame 12, intermediate frame 13, and bottom frame 14, which are formed in the shape of a square and are supported by four rods 20 which are welded to the frames, loops 21 being provided at the upper four corners for lifting and to provide stacking guides for the crates. An interior housing comprises ring-shaped members 16 and 17, vertical rods 18 being welded to the interior surfaces of the members 13, 14, 16, and 17, and four U-shaped members 22 being welded to the interior surfaces of the members 12, 16, and 17, to form the floor. The floor members are welded together at each of the intersections 25. A sleeve 26, which covers the bottom and sides of the bottle and is preferably made of expanded metal, nests inside the interior housing, and a bottle retainer 29 fits over the neck of the bottle and is provided with hooks which are slipped over the member 16. A gap 33 is provided in the member 16 to allow it to be sprung to receive the hooks.
