842,635. Pallets for handling loads. ZARGES, W. Dec. 21, 1956, No. 39090/56. Class 78 (4). [Also in Groups XVII and XXV] A supporting member for pivotal elements, e.g. container walls, comprises a bar 4 formed on one side with integral flanges 2, 6, 7, 3<11>, the outer portion of at least one of which extends parallel to the bar 4 towards an adjacent flange and terminates in an inwardly-curved portion 21, 6<1>, 7<1>; the opposite surface of the adjacent flange is concentricallycurved and spaced to permit the introduction between the two of a similarly-curved element 9 of a wall 8, forming a hinge for it. Four such bars, provided also with bottom flanges 5 and connected to form an oblong frame, can support a bottom plate as well as four pivoted side walls 8, 81, the latter having angle-irons 13 for locating the former; feet 12 and corner caps 14 are attached. A further embodiment comprises mesh-like wall elements formed of intersecting vertical and horizontal rods hinging into supporting members as described, the upper ends of the vertical rods being bent-over coaxially at right-angles and embraced by the two flanges of an horizontal tubular rail split along its underwide.
