Abstract

967,925. Mobile lorry loading hoppers. C. H. HEISE. June 10, 1963 [Sept. 20, 1962], No. 23000/63. Headings B8E and B8S. Hoppers 36 are mounted side by side on a framework central section 12 between front and rear sections 10, 11 provided with road wheels 21, 18 respectively. The front axle 20 is steerable and has a tow bar 22. The front and rear sections can be jacked up and then supported on extendable legs 28, 51. The hoppers are closed by gate bars 38 having engaging toothed segments 39 operated by pneumatic rams 40. The hoppers are guided for vertical movement in columns 13 of the end sections 10, 11 by slides 46 entering slots therein. The central section may be lowered from the lorry loading position shown to a transporting position by hand-operated winches 25 and cables 24 connected to pins 26 on the slides 46. Tie-bars 48 may connect the end sections during transporting and may be used as struts during lorry loading. The arrangement is such that two lorries 53 may be positioned side by side for loading from the respective hoppers. The hoppers may be filled as desired by an elevator 52.
