964,858. Flexible skips. L. SILFVERSKIOLD. Feb. 15, 1963 [Feb. 17, 1962], No. 6314/63. Heading B8H. A collapsible skip has a cylindrical wall 1, Fig. 5, an inlet 10 and an outlet 3, a reinforcing ring 4 attached to a lifting yoke 5 and a separate supporting bowl 12 into which it fits when collapsed. The envelope 1 is of fabric, coated or impregnated with either plastics or rubber. The ring 5 is polygonal and the forks of a lift truck can engage it in at least two directions at right angles to each other. Legs 12, Fig. 3, are provided on the bowl in such a way that they can be stacked with the skip inside and picked up by a fork-lift truck. If the ratio of the diameter of the skip to its height is approximately 1 to 1.5 it will be stable when lifted by means of the bowl. To increase stability straps or chains may be connected between the ring 5 and the legs 12. This arrangement may also be used when the skip is lifted by a crane. Alternatively, supporting racks may be fitted into sockets 16 on the bowl.
