Abstract

1,131,113. Collapsible containers; load handling pallets. INTERFIL Ltd., and R. M. FORMAN. 6 June, 1967 [6 June, 1966], No. 25144/66. Headings B8D, B8H and B8S. A collapsible container has a framework, triangular in plan, formed of three tubular metal posts each linked to one another by horizontal bars, e.g. 7-9, the framework supporting a flexible envelope 12 by means of sleeves 18. The envelope is held against distortion by pairs of curved arms 17 pivoted to the posts. The ends of the bars are joined to collars 5, enabling the bars to pivot on the posts on which the collars rotate, with the exception that one set of bars, 7-9, is releasable at its corresponding ends by undoing catches 10, 11 when the framework is to be collapsed. The forks of a fork lift truck may be inserted between the bars 8, 9. The envelope may be of rubber, or of a laminate of woven or knitted material such as nylon or terylene coated on one or both surfaces with rubber or plastics; and it may be reinforced at areas 19-22, and have an inlet with a lid 16 and an outlet closed at 14. Both inlet and outlet may be closed by drawstrings. The posts are recessed to receive the tops 30 of the posts of a similar container stacked below. Tapes or strips may replace the arms 17. The envelope closures may be in the form of pivoted clamps. Alternatively, the outlet may be closed by a pair of spaced rings (24, 27) connected by cords (26), the outer ring (27) being turned to twist the cords about an outlet neck (25) before the ring (27) is locked in position, Fig. 4 (not shown).
