Abstract

1,043,648. Stacking and covering devices. GENERAL AMERICAN TRANSPORTATION CORPORATION. June 4, 1964 [Aug. 8. 1963], No. 23293/64. Headings B8C, B8D and B8T. A container stacking and covering device 40 of flexible plastics, e.g. polyethylene, material, comprises a cover 41 with a continuous depending skirt-like rim 42 and a continuous upstanding rib 43, there being a continuous bead 44 on the rim. The device is interposed between two identical stacked sealed metal containers C1, C2, the rim 42 of the device being stretched over a bead 13 on container C1 and engaging it at 42a, this bead also engaging the cover at 41c and a bead 23 on container C2 engaging the cover at 41a so that the rib 43 is surrounded by bead 23 to prevent lateral displacement of the containers. The device may also be used to cover one of the containers after it has been opened. The containers and device are cylindrical in shape. The devices themselves can also be similarly stacked.
