Abstract
964,761. Knitting-machines. BANNER CO. Jan. 28, 1963 [Jan. 29, 1962], No. 3372/63. Heading D1C. Picker mechanism for a circular machine comprises a pair of discs 33, 34 rotatably mounted on the supporting shafts 28, 29 of the stitch cams 31, 32 on either side of the centre cam 44 all of which is mounted on the cam block 22 of the machine. Each disc carries an up picker 36<SP>1</SP> and the discs are urged by coil springs 40 into a position in which the pickers 36<SP>1</SP> bear in a recess 46 of a guard cam 45 positioned beneath the centre stitch cam 44. The butts of the needles side beneath the centre stitch cam 44 and the leading butt engages the picker 36<SP>1</SP> to rotate the disc and cause the corresponding needle to be raised to a high inactive level. The discs 33, 34 are controlled by pattern drums 66 and cams 68 as well as cams on the main cam-shaft and render the picker mechanism operative when desired. The discs are retained in their inoperative position by lugs 49 on a plate like members 47 engaging pins 50 on the discs and rotate the discs when the members 47 are moved by a link 55 under pattern control to raise the pickers 36<SP>1</SP> to a high inoperative position.
