Abstract

1479790 Knitting machines WIRKMASCHlNENBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB 27 Oct 1975 [5 Nov 1974] 44079/75 Heading D1C The needles of a circular or flat (e.g. with circulating carriages) knitting machine have lowering butts 9 engageable by a stitch cam 10 and further butts 11 which enage the edge 15 of a cam 14 to guide needles in miss position past the stitch cam, the butts 11 being radially pivotable against spring 12 or resiliently displaceable relative to the needle shank such that those butts of needles involved in knitting are pressed inwardly by a bevelled edge 17 or 16 of the cam as the needles are lowered by stitch cam 10, the outer edge of the butts being inwardly inclined in the needlelowering direction. Needle selection may be through plates 7 and jacks 2 pivoted to the needles or by a pattern wheel acting on a third butt provided on the needles. The edges 16, 17 respectively act on needles in tucking and knitting positions.
