Abstract
1393352 Knitting machines ELITEX-ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 14 March 1973 [17 March 1972] 12298/73 Heading D1C In a knitting machine, the sinkers 1 each comprise first and second parts 2, 6 each with a butt a, b engaging sinker cams and having mutually engaging edges which are inclined to the direction of movement of the sinker parts so that, on relative movement of the parts the edge 9 of the sinker engaging the sinker loop and the adjacent throat can be moved parallel to, perpendicular to or in a direction there between relative to the needles. As shown, part 2 is guided in a groove in outer sinker ring 3 and a recess in inner sinker ring 5, the second part 6 being slidable on nose 7 of part 2. In operation, when a needle is taking the yarn the associated sinker has its edge 9 at its lowest point. As it is lowered, the butts a and b are separated by the cams so that part 6 and therefore edge 9 rises until it reaches its maximum height when the needle is at its lowest point.
