Abstract

964,499. Bottle capping; shoots. ANDERSEN & BRUUN'S FABRIKER A.S. Nov. 24, 1960 [March 31, 1960], No. 40416/60. Headings B8S and B8T. In an apparatus for placing conical caps on bottles or other members, the caps 5 are removed one by one from a nested stack 5 by blowing the first cap, closed end foremost, from the stack, having first dented the edge of the second cap by means of thrust shoes 14 which also support the second and succeeding caps, while a rotating shutter 17 allows the first cap to enter a guide channel 23 whose curvature corresponds to the conicity of the caps. In Fig. 1, the thrust shoes 14, which are actuated by air cylinder 13 and piston, dent the second cap in the stack, thus enabling an air jet directed through channels 9 to impinge within the first cap 6 in the stack. An opening in the shutter 17 rotates into alignment with the cap 6, the latter is blown through the shutter into the guide channel 27, the remainder of the stack being supported by interference of the thrust shoes 14 in what is now the lowest cap in the stack. Pressure in the air cylinder 13 is released and springs 24 return the thrust shoes, the stack drops on to the shutter which is synchronized with the thrust shoes, and the cycle repeats. Referring now to Figs. 6, 7, as the bottle advances in the direction of arrow 26 it impinges on catches 34 of the jaws 29 thus forcing them upward against the springs 31 thereby moving the stops 30 to enable the bottleneck to carry the cap 6 from the guide channel 23. Instead of bottles, the caps may be placed on members which serve merely to transport them, for example to a printing machine. Specifications 689,530 and 779,064 are referred to.
