1440376 An apparatus for locating caps on containers E ZETTERBERG 24 Aug 1973 40288/73 Heading B8T An apparatus for capping and for producing vacuum in containers, during the capping of the containers, by using steam comprises a conveyer 31 for the bottles, a cap locating device 30 with side guide rails (36) and a steam supply device (1), (2), Fig.2 (not shown), located near one of these guide rails, the guide rail having apertures 37 so that steam supplied to one of the guide rails passes through the apertures to evacuate air from the container mouths, thereby subsequently creating a partial vacuum, and finally leaving through the apertures of the other guide rail, and a hood (21) to guide the steam back to the guide rails. Members 34, 35 tighten the caps. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 5 (not shown) the hood (21) is provided with a curved surface (21a).
