In an arrangement for minimizing earth current disturbances, an H.F. signal incoming over the inner conductor a coaxial cable 19 is applied between the control grid and cathode of a high impedance valve 1, the cathode being connected directly to the outer conductor of the cable and also to earth over a resistance 12, the output signal being taken from between the anode of the valve and earth. By this means the signal voltage only is applied to the valve, the earth current voltage being developed only across the resistance 12, so that it makes only a small contribution to the output as compared with the amplified signal. In a modification, Fig. 3, the resistor 12 is split into portions 12a 12b, so dimensioned that the voltage developed over 12a, which is applied to the grid cathode circuit of the valve, after amplification cancels out that developed over the portion 12b.
