963,169. Window &c. frames; latches. ELTREVA A.G. Nov. 23, 1962 [Nov. 27,1961], No. 44370/62. Headings E1J and E2A. A metallic frame profile member 16, 18 is secured to a wooden frame bar 1 of a compound window, the profile and bar contacting on two surfaces 14, 17 at right angles, by a latch member 8 pivoted at 9 to move transversely of the members 16, 18 and 1, the bar 1 having therein a recess 3 to accommodate the moulded or pressed housing 4 of synthetic material for the two-armed latch member 8, the upper arm of which ends in an upper and lower jaw 21, 20 such that when the latch is in its inoperative position a flange 18 of the profile rests on the bottom jaw, and as the profile 16, 18, is brought into contact with the bar 1 the latch is rotated and the upper jaw brought to fit on the top of the flange 18, and the pressure is increased by a screw 12 passing through the other contact surface 14 and the side 16 of the profile into a threaded bore 11 in the latch 8. A longitudinal slot is provided in the side 16 of the profile for passage of the screw 12 to allow for differences in expansion between the profile and bar at varying temperatures.
