Abstract

942,283. Window &c. frames. INTERNATIONALE BOUW-SPECIALITEITEN N.V. March 14, 1961, No. 9234/61. Heading E1J. [Also in Division A4] The two parts of a mitred timber window or door frame joint are resiliently clamped together to retain the adjacent edges together when longitudinal stresses are present in the parts by a bolt 4 and nut 15, the bolt extending through the parts perpendicular to the joined edges 13, resilient washers 16 being placed below the nut to compensate for such stresses. A metal pin 17 which tapers towards its ends and which has a slot in each end, is forced into bores on either side of the edges 13 to compensate for transverse and complex stresses. The pin 17 may be replaced by spring washers or by a corrugated disc pressed after pre-stressing into edge-slots extending on either side of the edges 13.
