sa position active, entre un châssis en bois et un châssis métallique;
La figure 2 montre le même ensemble, vu de face et partiellement découpe;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Latch assembly for combined wood and metal window.
The present invention relates to a latch assembly for a combined wood and metal window with two frame parts consisting of a metal profile and a wooden molding in contact by two staves and comprising a latch with two arms, pivoting transversely to the two parts. frame and one end of which has a notch so as to be able to engage with a projection, for example a rib, of the part opposite to that carrying the latch.
The basic idea of the invention is to provide, for a window with a metal frame and a wooden frame, an assembly which, on the one hand, connects the two frames to each other in a simple manner and, on the other hand, allows a certain longitudi-

nal of a Chinese in relation to the other, which may result from variations in temperature or from the difference in the coefficients of linear expansion.
The latch assembly is not intended to be undone more or) Mins often, but must be used for the assembly of windows * with large surfaces in particular with Insulating glazing, which require an assembly giving full security and must no longer pulls disassembled by after.
In a known wooden window latch assembly and window latch, there is provided a latch with two arms, with a notch, which lies in a longitudinal section plane of the frame section and takes behind a lug attached to a latch. wooden frame hasp. In the clamped position, the two frame parts apply to each other along two parallel surfaces.
Due to its position in a longitudinal plane, the latch has the drawback of preventing longitudinal expansion of the frame parts, resulting from temperature for example, and thus causing tensions.
Following the invention, the problem is completely solved and the reported drawback is avoided, by pivoting the latch in a plane transverse to the frame and by choosing the opening of the notch of the latch so that, in the inclined position of the latch, the metal profile bears by one of its wings on the underside of the notch protruding from one of the spans of the wooden frame, after which, the top of the notch, as a result of the pivoting of the latch in the assembled position, take behind the wing and tighten it on the wood, a single screw being inserted in another span of the wooden frame, perpendicular to the first, so as to tighten one against the other the metal frame being applied to the two perpendicular spans,

manufacture, inexpensively, for example with the press or by injection, and which can be assembled by a very small workforce, even unskilled.
The new effect obtained by the latch assembly of the invention lies in the fact that with a single screw, the metal frame is pressed simultaneously against two spans of the wooden frame, perpendicular to each other, this which ensures an assembly started from the two frame parts.
Depending on the respective dimensions of the latch and of its housing, it is advantageous to flare in the pivoting plane of the latch and up to both ends, the tapped hole of the latch receiving the tension screw and this to an extent corresponding to the latch swivel range.
According to the invention, it can be provided, for the passage of the screw in the metal frame, a buttonhole. longitudinal which extends along the length of the wing and allows relative sliding of the two frames. This arrangement took into account the tolerances allowed between the metal frame and the wooden frame, as well as the relative displacements of the two frames caused by the temperature.
The housing of the latch and the recess of the wooden frame receiving this housing can be easily manufactured, when the party. , the recess of the latch housing is cylindrical.
The assembly of the new fastener is facilitated by the fact that part of the latch housing protrudes above the recess of the wooden frame and has a flange worn on the wood and drilled with holes for the mounting screw passage *
The latch housing and the latch itself can be easily manufactured, from injected or press-molded synthetic material *
The appended drawing represents an embodiment of the invention, given by way of example.
Figure 1 shows the new connection element in

its active position, between a wooden frame and a metal frame;
Figure 2 shows the same assembly, seen from the front and partially cut away;
Figure 3 shows the various parts during assembly *
A wooden frame 1 has at its upper face 2, a cylindrical hole 3. In the latter is embedded a housing 4 having a cylindrical part 5 of corresponding diameter and resting on the wood by a wing or tab 6. This is pierced with holes 7 for the passage of fixing screws, not shown.
In the housing 4 is mounted, so as to be able to pivot about an axis 9, a latch with two arms 8. Its lower arm
10 has a threaded hole 11 intended to receive a traction screw 12 perpendicular to the plane of the pivot axis of the latch and widens on either side to an extent corresponding to the amplitude of the pivoting of the latch.
Screw 12 goes through a hole
13, drilled in a bearing face 14 of the wooden frame 1 and in a longitudinal buttonhole 15, made in a wing 16 of the metal frame *
The metal frame rests on the second bearing face
17 of the wooden frame 1, by a profiled corner portion 18 whose vertical flange has either an opening 19 in which engages the top 21 of the notch of the latch, or an interior molding or tongue not shown, with which this part
21 of the latch engages.
As shown in Figure 3, when the metal frame 16-18 is placed on the wooden frame 1, the wing 13 hits the underside 20 of the notch of the latch 8 and thus causes the latter to pivot into its active position. , shown * in Figures 1 and 2. In this position, the top 21 of the notch takes in the opening 19 (or on the tongue not shown) of the wing 18 of the frame
If you then tighten the screw 12, the part 21 of the latch clamps the metal wing 18 on the bearing 17 of the wooden frame 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The single traction screw 12 makes it possible in this way to obtain a durable and secure assembly between the metal frame and the frame made of wood, while nevertheless allowing, within the necessary limits, a relative sliding movement between the two parts.
