In a pivoted-sliding window, the sides of the sash 10 are formed with vertical grooves 35 which receive bearing blocks 11 carried by pivot pins 12 on the frame 14. The sash may be swung to the position A and then moved against friction exerted by means of a resilient strip 25 carried by the fixed frame or against tension or compression springs to the position B or C where it is held by friction between the frames and may be provided by the resilient strip element 25. Swinging of the sash is effected by levers 31 pivoted on the fixed frame and coupled by a bar 16 at their free ends and slidably engaging the sash by their other ends through rounded projections 34 and a groove 23. The sash is made in two halves divided vertically, and may be single- or double-glazed.
