Abstract

962,753. Sectional boilers. O. WALTER. March 30, 1961 [March 31, 1960], No. 11767/61. Heading F4A. In an arrangement for the uniform distribution of water into a hot-water boiler comprising flat vertical sections 2, a distributer pipe 1 which forms the extension of the return pipe 4 extends along the top of the boiler in the top row of nipples 3 and is closed at a point a short distance from the flow pipe 6. Return water passes through openings 8 in the pipe 1 and down flow passages 7, displacing water downwardly against the thermal lift to produce considerable turbulence along the heated boiler walls and intimate mixing of the return water and the boiler water. In a modification the distributer pipe is divided into two unequal sections by a longitudinal horizontal wall, the lower and upper sections having openings to the chamber which serve respectively as return water outlets and steam and hot water inlets. In a further modification the end of the distributer pipe adjacent the flow tube 6 is open, water flow therethrough directly into the flow pipe being controlled by a throttle. Water is fed into the distributer pipe by means of a slotted pipe located coaxially there within. In a further modification the distributer pipe is formed of a number of sections each connecting adjacent nipples.
