Abstract
956,415. Cable glands. CONAX CORPORATION. June 15, 1962, No. 23090/62. Heading H2E. In a cable gland for metalsheathed cables the gland body 18 and a closure member 21 are drawn together to wedge a constrictable ferrule 25 on to the cable sheath 12 so that knurling on the ferrule 25 engages the conical surface 16 and prevents relative rotation therebetween. The cable conductors 10 protruding from the insulation 11 enter sockets 32 housed in a resilient dielectric block 34 which abuts the end of the cable insulation when the gland parts are drawn together to seal the connection against ingress of moisture. The outer surface of lands 26 on the ferrule 25 may be knurled or ridged (Fig. 4, not shown) to resist rotation when the gland parts are drawn together, e.g. by screwing.
