Abstract

955,659. Supporting lampshades. LINOLITE Ltd. June 13, 1960 [June 12, 1959], No. 20225/59. Heading F4R. An electric lamp fitting comprises a pair of holders for a double-ended lamp, e.g. a double contact tubular filament lamp or a fluorescent tube lamp arranged along the axis of and within a cylindrical or conical shade, the holders being offset from a standard outside the shade. In the form shown, the lamp 21 is mounted in holders 20 carried by arms 16, 18 extending from a standard 12 mounted on a base 10. A conical shade which may be constructed of the material described in Specifications 823,150 and 892,103 bent to conical shape and provided with cut-outs to engage the arms 16, 18 is mounted between pairs of washers 26 close to the standard. In modifications (1) the shade is of greater length, three arms being provided for supporting two tubular lamps, the central arm having back-toback lamp-holders; (2) the base is mounted on a wall with the standard pointing upwards; (3) the standard is bifurcated to provide two uprights of equal or unequal length, each supporting two lampholders and a shade, the shades being side-by-side or staggered; and (4) a ceiling fitting is provided with three, four or five standards, each supporting a pair of lampholders and a shade.
