Abstract

952,934. Closures for bottles. COURVOISIER Ltd. June 12, 1962 [June 13, 1961], No. 21305/61. Heading B8T. A glass bottle 1 having a cap attached thereto is provided around the top of the bottle neck with a rim flange 2 divided into two parts by diametrically opposed flats 3, the undersurfaces 4 of the two parts sloping downwardly in the same circumferential direction and the cap is provided with a skirt 12 formed with two diametrically opposed projections 19 such that the cap is fitted on the bottle neck by aligning the projections 19 with the flats 3, moving the cap downwards and turning it to engage the projections 19 beneath the helical undersurfaces 4 of the flange 2. A gasket 20 is positioned in the cap to seal the bottle. An annular rib 21 may be moulded around the bottle neck so that the projections 19 wedge against it. The top wall 13 of the cap may have a central aperture to accommodate the stem 17 of a pourer 10. Spigots 18 on the stem 17 engage notches in the periphery of the aperture and the cap and pourer are stuck together.
