Abstract

952,317. Rocking and angularly adjustable chairs. M. HELLER. Feb. 1, 1963, No. 4214/63. Heading A4J. An armchair comprises a main frame a, and a member b forming the seat and back of the chair which is pivotally or hingedly connected at c to the frame a and suspended from the arms of the frame by resilient tensile members d, e.g. rubber cables, rubber bands, tension springs, so that an occupant of the chair could rock the chair. At least one stop is provided to prevent the chair rocking. This may be a fitting l attached to the chair which is engaged by a threaded bolt m, or a spring catch or spring plunger, attached to the frame. Alternatively the stop may comprise a removable bar which fits into holes o or abuts against fittings p, and thus enables the angle of the seat to be adjusted. The sides of the frame a may be covered to conceal the suspension arrangement.
