Abstract

1,039,642. Seat adjustments. D. SEBEL & CO. Ltd. Sept. 13, 1962 [Sept. 13, 1961], No. 32796/61. Heading A4J. In a chair having a back rest 6 adjustable forwardly and rearwardly with respect to a seat 4, a back rest frame 5 is provided with a forwardly extending portion 21 slidably supported on a seat frame 3. The seat frame is formed by a pair of laterally outwardly facing channel section side members 17 in each of which a portion 21 of the seat frame is slidably supported. The two portions 21 are braced by a rod 23 which slidably engages in slots 25 in the side members 17. The rod 23 can be secured in any required position lengthwise of the slots 25 by means of a spigot 27 secured to the rod and a nut 28. The height of the chair is adjustable by means of a collar 15 and thumb screw 16. Spring means 11 are provided to resist the weight of the person seated on the chair. The upward movement of the column 2 is limited by a pin 13 engaging in a suitable hole 14.
