Abstract

954,606. Adjustable folding chairs. F. ANDREOLI, and F. ANDREOLI. April 11, 1962 [April 11, 1961; May 8, 1961], No. 14010/62. Heading A4J. The inclination of a deck chair backrest may be adjusted in response to movement of the arm rests 11, 12. The locking mechanism comprises two plates 18 pivoted to the pivotal connection 2 between each pair of legs 1 and provided with a projection 18<SP>1</SP> to hook over a rail 17 in a longitudinal recess 16 in the underneath side of the arm rest 11. The projection locks against the upper side c of the recess when the armrest is urged rearwardly. The mechanism is released by raising the arm rest 11. A bolt 21 prevents the projection 18<SP>1</SP> locking when the arm rest is moved forwardly. The hook-like projection 18<SP>1</SP> may be replaced by a pair of slots 23, 24 through which the rail 17 slides (Fig. 8). The seat and back cloth are readily detachable.
