Abstract

A method of reducing strength directionality in titanium and titanium-base alloys comprises unidirectionally hot rolling the metal into strips and thereafter annealing at 50-200 DEG F. below the beta transus temperature. The annealing may be a box anneal. The hot rolled and annealed strip may be given a unidirectional cold rolling followed by a further anneal and between the cold rolling and annealing may be subjected to a solution treatment above the beta transus. Prior to hot rolling the metal may be heated to a temperature from 50 DEG F. below to 400 DEG F. above the beta transus temperature.
