949,348. Vacuum furnaces. BALZERS PATENT-UND LIZENZ ANSTALT. June 28, 1960, No. 3236/62. Divided out of 900,502. Heading F4B. [Also in Division H5] In a cylindrical horizontal vacuum furnace having a vessel comprising a stationary vertical wall portion 1 pivotally carrying a heatable crucible 7 and the current supply conductors to said crucible, and a horizontally movable hood-shaped wall portion 2, the said crucible is suspended on the said stationary wall portion 1 in such a manner that the pivot axis is horizontal and perpendicular to the horizontal longitudinal axis of the furnace vessel, the current conductors for the supply of the heating current to said crucible being arranged in the said pivot axis. In the arrangement shown, the crucible 7 is suspended from the wall 1 on two arms 5, 6, the latter of which is hollow to accommodate conductors 26, 27 and a contact device 30 as described in Specification 900,502 for supplying current to an induction coil 7<SP>1</SP> surrounding the crucible 7, which is tilted by hydraulic jacks 18, 18<SP>1</SP> and linkages 16, 16<SP>1</SP> to discharge into a mould 13.
