Abstract
898,528. Furnace electrode holders. TAGLIAFERRI & C. S.p.A., LEONE. July 26, 1960 [Sept. 21, 1959], No. 25942/60. Class 39(3) In an electric furnace an electrode 4 passes through a clamping collar 3 which is rigidly supported in fixed position by the building structure and beneath the collar 3 is a clamping carrier 2 which is movable relative to collar 3 and which normally tightly engages the electrode, the arrangement being such that when the carrier reaches the end of its downward travel, the collar 3 is tightened to support the electrode while the carrier 2 is slackened, raised to its upper position of travel and reclamped on to the electrode to continue the feeding process. In suitable cases the movable carrier may be incorporated with the electrical contact plates 5 to the electrode.
