Abstract

942,474. Double lift dobbies. RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd. July 22, 1960 [July 22, 1959], No. 25620/60. Heading D1E. In a reversible double lift dobby having four rows of reading needles, the needles 3, 5 for reading successive odd-numbered picks are suspended from a bar 8, and the needles 4, 6 for reading successive even-numbered picks are suspended from a bar 9. The pattern card 2 is advanced two rows of holes at a time every second pick, the needles being lifted clear by raising both bars 8, 9. The bar 8 descends first, causing the needles 3, 5 to read the pattern for the preceding and succeeding odd picks respectively; auxiliary hooks 3<1>, 5<1> are thereby brought into the paths of auxiliary knives 10, 11. If the loom is running forward, the knife 11 operates the selected hooks 5<1> to rock bell cranks 12 which bring main draw hooks (not shown) into line with one of the main lifting knives. If the loom is being turned backwards, the auxiliary knife 10 makes an operative stroke, whereby the bell cranks 12 are rocked by the selected auxiliary hooks 3<1> to open the preceding shed. The bar 8 then rises and the bar 9 descends, whereupon the reading needles 4, 6 and auxiliary hooks 4<1>, 6<1> similarly act on bell cranks 13 to form the required even-numbered shed.
