Abstract

1, 035, 823. Loom dobbies. E. TRUMPELT [trading as ERICH TRUMPELT TEPTILMASCHINENFABRIK]. Jan. 18, 1963 [Jan. 20, 1962], No. 2414/63. Heading D1E. In a double lift dobby for looms upper and lower draw hooks are adapted to be actuated by lifting bars 31, 31a through hook needles 22 and 12 respectively under control of a pattern card 1. The card 1 which passes over a cylinder 2 has pairs of rows of holes along its length which are alternately probed for odd and even picks by a pair of needles 3, 3<SP>1</SP> arranged one behind the other in the direction of movement of the card. The needle 3 is provided for normal forward rotation of the loom, the needle 3<SP>1</SP> being rendered ineffective whilst for reverse rotation of the loom for pick finding the needle 3<SP>1</SP> only is effective to provide a correct shed sequence in this direction. The reading needles 3, 3<SP>1</SP> are coupled to driver needles 6, 7 which are adapted to be driven by successively operated driving bars 4, 5 respectively for their hook ends 8, 9 to actuate abutments 10 or 21 on auxiliary needles 11 coupled to the hook needles 12 and 22 respectively. The needles 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 6 and 7 are carried on a rack member 17, 20 which is adapted to be moved laterally by cam discs 25, 26 after each pick for the reading needles 3 to align alternately with the adjacent row of holes of each pair of rows. The ends 8, 9 of the driver needles 6, 7 also align alternately with an abutment 10 or 21 of auxiliary needles 11. Thus the upper and lower draw hooks are alternately controlled by their respective row of holes of the pattern card. Dropping of either needle 3 into a hole in the card will cause actuation of the respective drive needle 6 or 7 by its driver bar to actuate the aligned auxiliary needle 11 and move the hook needle 12 or 22 out of the path of its lifting bar. The timing of the driving bars 4, 5 and lifting bars 31, 31a is such that the dropping of needle 3<SP>1</SP> in the forward rotation of the loom is ineffective whilst on reverse rotation the needle 3 is ineffective. After the completion of each reading the needles 3, 3<SP>1</SP> are lifted from the card by cross wires 16 and lowered for the next reading, the card being stepped along during the lifting of the needles. The driver needles 6, 7 are loosely carried in holes on bar 20 of rack 17 so that they can pivot in a vertical plane. Springs 32 assist their return action action and that of the reading needles on to the card.
