Abstract

860,207. Axminster jacquards. BRINTONS Ltd. Feb. 13, 1959 [Nov. 22, 1957], No. 36513/57. Class 142(2) In a gripper Axminster jacquard, the lifters which operate the pile yarn carriers are moved directly from one position to another instead of returning to their lowest position between successive selections. As shown, each lifter 1 has seven pegs e, a selected peg being projected into the path of oppositely-moving knives 15, 16 whereby the lifter is raised or lowered to bring the selected peg to the level 17. The pegs are projected by a pattern mechanism having seven reading needles 3 controlling thirteen pusher needles 2 for each lifter, the seven pegs being thus opposite seven of the pusher needles whatever the position of the lifter. A latch bar 11 enters notches 12 in the lifters to lock them when the knives 15, 16 move apart; between selections, the projected pegs are returned by a presser bar (not shown). The cards are punched according to the distance the lifter is to be moved instead of according to the colour required.
