930,106. Knitting-machines. K.M.E. HESSISCHE WIRKMASCHINENFABRIK G.m.b.H. Oct. 8, 1959 [Oct. 16, 1958], No. 34151/59. Class 74 (2). To ensure that all of the yarns fed to the latch needles from the warp guides of a Raschel warp knitting-machine are taken and knitted by the needles, the needles 2 are moved from a raised position, Fig. 1, in which they are substantially vertical and in which position the yarns are fed to them, to a lowered position, Fig. 4, in which they are obliquely inclined to the trick plate 1. Simultaneously the distance between the needle and the trick plate 1 is maintained substantially constant. To achieve the desired needle motion the needle bar 18, Fig. 5, is mounted on a lever 17 pivotally connected to a plate 12 and both lever 17 and plate 12 are adapted to be oscillated from driving mechanism contained in a housing 9. The driving mechanism also operates the guide bars and the comb bar 24. Alternatively the lever 17 may be mounted on a fixed pivot and the trick plate 1 moved by levers from the driving mechanism to maintain the distance between it and the needles substantially constant.
