Abstract

818,350. Looms. TEXTIL-APPARATEFABRIK AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT HUTTWIL. April 10, 1957 [April 10, 1956; April 8, 1957], No. 11775/57. Class 142(2) The warp threads of a loom are controlled electrically by pins 22 upon rollers 20<SP>1</SP>, 20<SP>11</SP>, 201<SP>111</SP>..., the rollers being rendered operative in any desired sequence. A peg board 14 is provided having bars 16<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>11</SP>, 16<SP>111</SP> connected to contact members 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>11</SP>, 5<SP>111</SP> arranged on a drum, and bars 15<SP>1</SP>, 15<SP>11</SP>, 15<SP>111</SP> connected to the rollers 20<SP>1</SP>, 20<SP>11</SP>, 20<SP>111</SP>. Pegs 18<SP>1</SP>, 18", 18<SP>111</SP> determine which bars 15 shall be connected to individual bars 16 so that intermittent rocking of a contact member 7 past the contacts 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>11</SP>, 5<SP>111</SP> can bring the rollers 20 into operation in any desired sequence. The pins 22 are arranged in rows 24, a position for a pin being provided for each warp thread, and contact members 25, one to each warp thread are arranged to contact the pins. The members 25 are connected to magnets 47 controlling levers 48 arranged to be moved by the magnets from under needles 51. The needles 51 have upper ends in the form of eyes embracing needles 53, one end of each of which can be moved to engage either the bottom or top row of perforations 86 in a prism 55. The other end of each pin 53 presses against a hook 56 having bent-over portions engaging raising and lowering knives 57, 58. The upper perforations 86, which are engaged by needles 53 corresponding to magnets 47 not energized, determine the binding of the warps, e.g., in the formation of a twill fabric; the lower perforations 86 are used for patterning. Each roller 25 serves to control the warps for the weaving of a letter or word or other symbol, and rows parallel to the axis and having no pins arranged in them are provided for the weaving of picks between the symbols. Timing mechanism may be provided for determining the position of the symbol to be woven in, and for weaving readily distinguishable picks for cutting.
