Abstract
940,984. Cooling discharge apparatus. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON. May 3, 1960 [Nov. 3, 1959], No. 15562/60. Heading H1D. In an evaporative cooling arrangement, an electron tube anode is in contact with a radiator 1 comprising radial appendages 2 in the form of massive ribs or short thick protuberances, provided or formed with extensions having with the liquid a larger effective contact area per unit of radial length than do the inner portions of the radial appendages. The extensions may be corrugated and/or formed with crenallations 8a, 8b, Fig. 4, bent in alternate directions. A liquid deflecting cylinder 10 may be formed integrally with, or spaced from, the extensions 8. Alternatively, the outer ends of the ribs may be slit, Fig. 5 (not shown), or may have soldered-on, or integral, extensions 8c, Fig. 6, or the extensions may be formed by a soldered-on, or integral apertured cylinder, Fig. 9. Finally, the end portions of the ribs 2 may be formed, or provided, with cooling channels 14, Fig. 15, or may be grooved to form cooling channels in co-operation with a surrounding cylinder.
