Abstract

1,040,984. Travelling wave tubes. VARIAN ASSOCIATES. Feb. 20,1964 [ March 18, 1963], No. 46626/65. Divided out of 1,040,983. Heading H1D. A high-frequency electron discharge tube apparatus has, disposed in the space between a main body shell, extending between an electron gun and a collector assembly, and focusing means surrounding the main body shell, a plurality of separate heat-conductive particles so as to provide a path of low thermal resistance compared to air. The particles are spherical and of metal, e.g. copper or aluminium, and may be either hollow or solid. They have a diameter, or maximum dimension, of<SP>3</SP>/100-<SP>15</SP>/100 of an inch.
