Abstract
1,040,985. Travelling wave tubes. VARIAN ASSOCIATES. Feb. 20, 1964 [March 18, 1963], No. 46627/65. Divided out of 1,040,983. Heading H1D. A collector member of a travelling wave tube has a surrounding fluid cooling structure which comprises first, intermediate and third cooling sections which are so constructed and arranged that a continuous fluid flow through the sections, which are connected in series, will produce a flow at a greater velocity and undergo a greater pressure drop in the intermediate cooling section than in the first and third cooling sections. All three sections comprise spaced cooling fins so constructed and arranged that in the first and third sections the fluid will flow unidirectionally between adjacent pairs of fins, and in the intermediate section the fluid will flow in opposite directions between adjacent pairs of fins.
