Abstract

938,384. Driving twist tubes. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. Sept. 13, 1961 [Sept. 22, 1960], No. 32537/60. Addition to 923,756. Class 120 (1). [Also in Group XXXIV] A false twist tube 31 which is supported by at least two rollers of larger diameter than the tube and is driven via one of said rollers by a belt engaging a drive transmitting roller on the shaft of said one roller, is located by a stationary locating element which, as shown, preferably engages the tube at two reduced portions to provide axial location thereof. The locating element is mounted on a carriage movable towards or away from the supporting rollers. In a further form the supporting rollers may each consist of axially spaced flanges so that they may overlap. The tube engaging portions of the locating element may be of sapphire or tungsten carbide. Specifications 789,626 and 920,707 also are referred to.
