Abstract

1,023,951. Driving false twist tubes. KLINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. July 5, 1963 [April 6,1962], No. 13459/62. Heading D1D. [Also -in Division F2]. In an arrangement for driving a spindle 49 (e.g. a yarn false twisting spindle) comprising an inner set of rotatable shafts 34, 35, 36 and an outer set 10,11,12, at least one of the outer shafts is driven and rotation is transmitted to the inner set of shafts and in turn to the spindle 49 by friction gearing, the arrangement being such that large diameter tracks 40, 41, 42 and 46, 47, 48 on the inner set of shafts engage the spindle 49 while smaller diameter portions 34, 35, 36 are engaged by larger diameter tracks 20, 21, 23, 29, 30 on the outer set of shafts so that the interposed inner set of shafts effects an increase in gear ratio in the drive between the outer shafts and the spindle. The friction tracks on the spindle 49 may be in the form of annular distance pieces. The spindle 49 together with the inner set of shafts may be hollow and provided with bail means so that yarn may be passed therethrough to be false twisted. The inner shafts 34, 35, 36 are provided with curved shoulders so that they have limited axial movement while the spindle 49 has axially spaced conical shoulders between which the raised portions on the shafts of the inner set are located. The friction discs 20, 21, 23, 29, 30 on the outer shafts may be of polyurethane.
