920,658. Twist tubes. TOYO RAYON KABUSHIKI KAISHA, and GUNZE SEISHI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. March 31, 1960, No. 11405/60. Class 120 (2). Apparatus for false-twisting e.g. as in twistcrimping, a running yarn comprises spaced rotatable parallel shafts so positioned that two or more axially spaced discs, which may be of equal diameter, on each shaft overlap the discs of the other shaft or shafts e.g. the discs on one shaft interpose alternately the discs on the other shafts, so as to define a path along which the yarn is passed to receive twist by frictional contact with the disc rims. Each rim may have a layer of material combining elasticity with a high coefficient of friction with respect to the material of the yarn e.g. a rubber tyre. The position of at least one shaft is independently adjustable. The apparatus may comprise three shafts with the spacing of discs on one shaft less than such spacing on the other shafts. As shown, shafts 1, 2 and 3 carry discs 4, 5 and 6, the shaft 1 being rotated by a pulley 7 and driving shafts 2 and 3 through gears 8, 11, 9 and 8, 12, 10. Shafts 1 and 2, 3 (with intermediate shafts 13 and 14) are carried on supports 16, 17 and 20 adjustably mounted on frame 19.
